Hate

there’s so much hate

because of skin and love

and who people are

do I participate

Denial

there’s so much denial

because of ease and power

and who knows why

do I smile

Loss

there’s so much loss

because of greed and weakness

and entitlement so entrenched

do I gloss

Pain

there’s so much pain

because of death and words

and not being known

do I refrain

Create

there’s much to create

because of children and humanity

and we need better

will I participate
